Looking for a place to go Karting in the Philippines? If you’re around the Metro Manila area (likely BGC or Makati I’m guessing) then your close easy option is going to be City Karting at Circuit Makati. If you’re looking for a longer, faster, real deal karting course though – there’s Carmona Racing Circuit in Carmona, Cavite.
Carmona is a motorcycle and karting circuit. The track is pretty easily accessible and is about an hour from BGC. The track itself has 750 m to 1 km (0.62 mi) configurations. I believe I had the normal/latter distance.
The track is not an arrive and drive facility but has open sessions that are free to drive to anyone who has paid registration fees (1000 PHP / ~$20 USD as of this writing.) Arrangements can be made with a race team for kart rental, I have some friends, J and Raf, who are instructors over at AUTS Racing and was able to rent a kart from them. Hit them up if you are interested in a rental – reach out to Jordan at 0922 2270726. The karts are 100/125cc 2-strokes? I think? Maybe 50mph? I did not have my regular equipment with me on this trip but the karts are definitely a step up from your typical rentals.
I’m 6’2″ 180 lbs and with short notice and no equipment of my own, they were able to accommodate me with a kart and helmet. I wasn’t a perfect fit in my kart but it was good enough to get 4 x 15 minute sessions in, but I was happy to call it a day after that. Thankfully I improved throughout the day, even though I was feeling quite tired by the last session.
My SA2000 helmet iirc is a Bell large, and my current SA2010 helmet a Pyrotect medium. I believe my helmet was an LS2 (motorcycle brand) medium, which may have been the biggest they had. Keep this in mind if scheduling a visit. Remember to bring a long shirt, pants, and closed toe shoes.
Session 3 I was feeling the hurt but somehow pulled off a pretty decent final session and finished strong!
